| A Civil and Naval prison with a museum. You can see the gallows and discover the jails gruesome past. This was the last county jail in Cornwall closing in 1927 and is reported to be haunted. There is also a restauant and lounge bar serving a wide range of food and refreshments. Bodmin Jail | This is the oldest complete mine site left in Cornwall. Discover how the mine complex developed. See a film of the mill in action. Take the guided tour through the tin processing plant where machinery can be seen at work. The museum is closed in the winter and re-opens around May. King Edward Mine | The Minack Theatre is cut into the cliffside on the edge of the ocean near Landsend. There are performances held here from around April - Sept check their website for details. | At this WWII Communications cemtre concealed in the cliffs you may explore the tunnels whose exhibits tell the story of how telegraphy developed and the lives of those involved. In the garden there are a number of sculptures. There are family activities run at certain tmes of year, check schedule. Porthcurno Telegraph Museum | This mill has many machines still in original situation, in working order. There is a 12 headed set of Cornish stamps standing where they have for over 100 years, driven by a water wheel. You will also see shaking tables, water wheels, dipper wheels, launders, rake classifier, pulverisor, slime pits and other machines housed in original buildings. Tolgus Tin | This tudor house, built in 1485, contains tapestries, armour, pewter, brass and old oak furniture. Outside there are formally planted terraces, the Valley and Upper Gardens and orchards to explore. You can climb the Prospect Tower folly or visit the mill nearby. Family events throughout year. | The only tin producer in Cornwall. Learn how Tin is turned from rock into metal. Meet the craftsmen who excavate the ore, process it, smelt it, refine it and make it into the final end product. Follow the working process on a gentle walk around the site. See the jewellry and giftware end products. Blue Hills Tin | The museum started after severe gales in 1962 yielded some Romano-British finds. The present museum was built and opened by the Queen in 1967. The collections are diverse with finds from many wrecks, a wild flower display (in summer), Romano-British artefacts, stuffed birds, local art and more. Isles of Scilly Museum | This is thought to be the site of King Arthurs last battle. King Arthurs Stone is a 6th century memorial stone which coincides with the legendary last battle. The exhibition collected over 20 years contains collections of display panels, photographs, illustrations texts and comissioned painings covering 1500 years of legend. The Arthurian Centre | ||||

| The Court Room Experience gives visitors the opportunity to become members of the jury in the trial of Matthew Weeks, accused of murdering a local girl on Bodmin Moor 1844. The jury must decide his fate. You also get a trip to the holding cells where Weeks and others awaited their fate. Approx 45mins. The Court Room Experience | At the British Cycling museum you can learn about the history of cycling from 1818. There are over 400 cycles, over 100 cycling medals and an old cycling repair shop to see here. There is a gallery of cycling pictures, ceramic cycling items and models of cycling. | Learn about Cornish maritime history, navigation and small boats. The museum has interactive and story telling displays. See the great views from the lookout tower. Witness stories of dramatic rescues, listen to tales of fishermen and find out how sails were made. National Maritime Museum | Poldark mine is an 18th century tin mine. You can look around the mine alone or take a tour. Check opening times and clothing restrictions. Other activities (extra charges apply) include find a diamond, pan for gold, candle making and dipping. There is also a childrens play area. | This large preserved mine site houses a museum in 2 acres of listed buildings. The collections tell the story of Cornwalls mining past. The underground tour takes you down the mine. Look down the Victory shaft (480m). Have a go at mineral panning or visit the hard rock museum. There is a shop and a cafe on site if you fancy tea and a pasty. Geevor Tin Mine | Penlee house presents 5 temporary exhibitions each year all containing exceptional paintings produced in West Cornwall. Note: Galleries close between exhibitions. Penlee park surrounds building and has sub-tropical plants, trees, memorial and sensory garden and childrens play area. FREE entry on Saturdays. Penlee House and Park | If you walk around this town you may see a number of fascinating murals adorning different walls. The murals are the works of local artisits, students and school children. There also explorer backpacks which is a great way for families to explore the museum. Royal Cornwall Museum | The museum is housed in a listed Militia building built in 1859. You can learn about the history of the Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry and British Military history from 1702 to 1959, including the capture of Gibralter in 1704. | Learn about the industrial and social past of Perrranporth and the surrounding villages. Surfing started here in the 1920`s using coffin lids. The displays include mining, fishing, costume, farming, surfing, a replica of a cornish kitchen and more. Entrance is free. Apr-Oct. Closed on Sundays. Perranzabuloe Folk Museum | This is the oldest surviving Marconi station in the world. This station is preserved as it looked in 1901 when Marconi received his record-breaking wireless communication. In 1910 the station recieved the first recorded SOS call, 2 years before the Titanic. Check website for opening times as they vary widely. Lizard Wireless Station | The three small dots sent from here on Dec 12th 1901 changed the world forever. At this exhibition watch the Marconi video, hear radio operators talking to the world and have a go yourself at learning morse code. The Kemp and the Paget radio rooms are open to the public.
