| Arlington Court is a Regency house containing varied treasures. You can picnic or play in the picturesque garden. The carriage museum has a carriage for every occassion, it is sometimes posible to take a ride in one of these. Arlington Court and Carriage Museum | Explore above and below the 5 decks of this ship. See the captains and officers cabins, weapons, tools, artefacts, ropes hauled by the sailors, the creak of the timbers, voices of the crew, treasures pirates and more. There are hands on exhibits. This replica has been here since 1964. The Golden Hind | There are a number different tours to choose from. Check schedule for tours and times. All tours are on foot and usually 90mins long. | Visit Dinosaur World in Torquay for some indoor dinosaur fun. The exhibition is packed with models, fossils and interactive play areas. | Construction of Dartmoor Prison started in 1806 and took three years. This Devon museum reflects the heritage of HMP Dartmoor from Prisoner of War Depot to the present day. There are interesting artefacts to look at from both the past and the present. Quiz available for junior visitors. HM Dartmoor Prison Museum | Learn about 40 years of history at Dartington Crystal. Watch the Master Engraving Demonstration. Have a go at glass blowing (booking advisable) or have your hand or foot cast in glass. | This Plymouth museum has nine permanent galleries with thousands of objects and artworks to view. They also have varied exhibitions. Events that take place occasionally may include family friendly activities such as storytelling or art sessions. A great indoor option if its raining in Plymouth. Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery | The Merchant`s House is an enchanting Plymouth museum. It is a 16th/17th century residence. It was home to three Plymouth mayors. The house is packed with old curiosities and everyday items including a huge dolls house from the 1870`s. You will also find a Victorian school room and a local chemist`s shop. | The Mythical Garden Sculpture Exhibition is held at Stone Lane Gardens, the five acre woodland and water garden. The sculptures are set amongst the Birch and Alder trees providing a pleasant, natural frame for each piece on display. Open from May - Sept. Dartmouth Museum has a superb collection of ships in bottles, marine and local artefacts. One of the galleries still has the original wood panelling and plaster ceiling from the 1600`s. | Braunton & District Museum helps you learn about the towns past. The Great Field is one of only two remaining examples of saxon strip farming. Brauntons maritime heritage is also displayed with hand made scale models of many of the Braunton vessels. | The Cookworthy Museum of Rural Life is housed in the Old Grammar School. It is a family friendly museum. There is a quiz, a victorian kitchen and costumes to try on. There is a range of collections and a local history archive. | The museum has over 30 portraits of locally owned and built ships. Also information on a number of shipwrecks, the most significant of which was the loss of the Salcombe lifeboat William and Emma.
